nonprofit staff support

Before I started doing this work, I spent a decade as a non-profit employee.  I worked in a domestic violence shelter, an affordable housing developer, a homeless shelter, and a national organization that advocated for permanent affordable housing.  In addition to that, I started and ran my own non-profit in DC that brought wellness services to vulnerable populations.

For that reason, I see a huge and powerful intersection between somatic tools and the importance of supporting folks on the frontline in non-profit work – where the vicarious trauma is real, the pay is low and the heart is in the lead.
Nervous System
First Aid

I have brought my SCOPE series to a local domestic violence shelter – meeting with staff once a month to provide insights and tools to support their nervous systems while navigating the intensity of their work.

This is a great series to provide staff tools to build resiliency, decrease burnout and facilitate permission within the work environment to digest the trauma they may experience in the field.

White-Bodied
Anti-Racism Work

I have also worked with multiple non-profits in the Helena area on the issue of understanding racism as it lives in our tissues.  I particularly have worked in supporting white-bodies to understand how privilege lives beyond our conscious understanding and the importance of getting in our reps to do the hard work despite the discomfort.  My work in this field is inspired by Resmaa Menakem’s work and a year long study with Karine Bell from The Rooted Global Village.

Staff 1:1
Embodiment Sessions
If you are seeing your staff is getting burned out and need 1:1 support, I also contract with nonprofits who reimburse for a set number of staff members who want to participate in 1:1 sessions at my studio.

Some other ways I’ve supported:
  • Staff retreats
  • Somatic consultations around staff burnout pinch points
  • Embodied trauma trainings for staff and volunteers
